Problem

The department was evaluating its offering for alternative students who have cognitive disabilities and require a personalized curriculum and support

Challenge

There was little or outdated research available to understand students’ needs

Actions

We needed to properly understand the current offerings and how it was meeting the needs of families and different schools. I completed the following:

  • I wrote the survey and discussion guide with the product team

  • I moderated teacher listening sessions

  • I created surveys to learn about the landscape

  • Journey maps of course completion and admin tasks

Results

Once I learned about family and teachers’ needs, I shared results and pitched services to address what was missing
